

Heather, RDH (Team Lead)
Heather is a native of Barre, Vermont, and moved to Raleigh in 2006. She attended the University of Vermont, where she received an applied science degree in dental hygiene. Heather is known for her gentle touch and her quiet and comforting voice. She is a true professional, as patients feel very relaxed with her. Heather has also volunteered on the dental bus at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds.
She feels as though working at Wainright and Wassel, D.D.S. is her “home away from home.” Heather has been with us since 2006.
Heather and her husband, Brian, have a son, Mason, and a daughter, McKenna. They also have their lovable family dog, Bodie. Heather loves to bake, and desserts and breakfast pastries are her specialties!

Karyn, RDH
Karyn is a North Carolina native and considers herself a Tar Heel for life! She is a geographically well-rounded North Carolinian – born at the beach, moved to the Triangle and attended college in the mountains. She graduated from Lees-McRae College with a Bachelor’s of Science in biology in 2010 and then attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, obtaining a Bachelor’s of Science in dental hygiene in 2012. She joined our practice in 2012 and continues to develop a lasting rapport with all of her patients.
Karyn is an avid runner and hope to complete a half marathon in all 50 states one day. She has completed half marathons in 9 states so far, with a personal record in Tennessee and her bucket list race at the Grand Canyon. In her free time, Karyn enjoys being active outside through running and hiking, going to the beach, practicing calligraphy, listening to books and podcasts, spending time with her family and being an active member at her church. Karyn and her husband, Lance, married in Wilmington in June 2021.
Karyn enjoys keeping up to date with all the latest and greatest technology and research as it pertains to dental hygiene. She is a member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association and North Carolina Dental Hygienists’ Association – Greater Raleigh component. She has previously served as the NCDHA recording secretary, delegate for NCDHA House of Delegates, chair for Durham-Orange and Greater Raleigh components of NCDHA and as a continuing education co-chair for the North Carolina Dental Hygiene Academy of Advanced Studies.

Susan, RDH
Susan is a native of Virginia, but moved here when she was young, and now calls North Carolina home. She attended Sanderson High School and has been in the dental field since 2000. She started her career as a certified dental assistant and later received an Applied Science degree in dental hygiene from Wake Technical Community College. Susan enjoys patient care; helping each person that sits in her chair feel more confident in their smile. She says it is very rewarding to see a patient learn to take better care of their mouth.
Susan volunteers for charity dentistry events, such as Mission of Mercy, the NC Dental Bus, and Dentistry for the Heart. She received the Community Dental Award in her hygiene class, showing her sincere passion for helping others improve their oral health.
Susan loves to exercise and is involved in her church. She enjoys spending time with her high school sweet heart and husband, and their three children. They have an adorable maltipoo named Tinkerbell. They also love the beach, and taking trips to visit Mickey and Minnie.

Christy, RDH
Christy is a native of southern Nash County where she attended Southern Nash High School. She then graduated in 2015 from Halifax Community College in Weldon, NC, with an Associate’s degree in Applied Science in Dental Hygiene.
Christy’s husband, Matt, was also born and raised in southern Nash County where they plan to raise their two beautiful daughters, Jordyn and Carter. As a family, they enjoy cooking, going to the beach, the mountains and Disney World. Christy joined our team in 2019 and looks forward to helping you and your whole family, meet your oral health needs! In her free time, Christy enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and pulling for the Tarheels!

Jackie, RDH

Jackie is originally from Florida, but has lived in North Carolina for the past ten years. Jackie obtained her Associates Degree in Dental hygiene from Wake Technical Community college, and plans to one day pursue her passion for dental hygiene even further with a Bachelor’s degree. Before her career in dental hygiene, Jackie was a salon spa coordinator for five years, therefore, she understands the importance of building a good rapport with patients. Jackie strives to make sure every guest feels comfortable in her chair, and is always happy to answer any oral hygiene questions that may arise from her patients.
In her spare time, Jackie likes to read, do puzzles, and cheer on UNC Basketball.

Sam, RDH

Sam is originally from Florida, but has lived in North Carolina for the past eight years.
She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene and graduated with honors from University of North Carolina Chapel Hill (go heels!). During her time at UNC-CH, Sam discovered her passion for providing services to those in educational and economic need and became the leader of the American Association of Public Health Dentistry (AAPHD).
Before her career in dental hygiene, Sam was pursuing a degree in education and has a love for kids and educating patients in how to best take care of their oral hygiene. Sam strives to make personal connections with every patient and is always happy to answer questions regarding oral hygiene that may arise from her patients.
In her spare time, Sam likes to read, workout, and travel.

Alyssa, RDH
Alyssa is an NC native and graduated with her degree in dental hygiene from Wayne Community College after attending Appalachian State. She has been in the dental field for 7 years and enjoys making personal connections with all of her patients so that they feel comfortable and at ease during their visits.
When Alyssa is not working, she enjoys traveling, reading, hiking, and hanging out with her Greyhound, Hazel and Bernedoodle, Moose.
