Heather

Heather is a native of Barre, Vermont, and moved to Raleigh in 2006. She’s among the finest in our hygienists’ team. She attended the University of Vermont, where she received an applied science degree in dental hygiene. Heather is known for her gentle touch and her quiet and comforting voice. She is a true professional, as patients feel very relaxed with her. Heather has also volunteered on the dental bus at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds.

She feels as though working at Wainright and Wassel, D.D.S. is her “home away from home.” Heather has been with us since 2006.

Heather and her husband, Brian, have a son, Mason, and a daughter, McKenna. They also have their lovable family dog, Bodie. Heather loves to bake, and desserts and breakfast pastries are her specialties!

Susan

Susan is a native of Virginia, but has been in Raleigh most of her life. She attended Sanderson High School and has been in the dental field since 2000. She started her career as a Certified Dental Assistant and later received an Associate Degree in Applied Science of Dental Hygiene. She has been with our office since 2014, offering experience and expertise for her wonderful dental clients that she adores. She enjoys building relationships with her patients and seeks to help each and every one feel more confident with their smile while also vouching to help teach them better oral care. Susan is certified in giving local anesthesia, volunteers in charity dentistry, and received the Community Dental Award in her hygiene class, showing a sincere passion for helping others.

In her free time, she enjoys traveling, excercising and baking. Susan and her husband have three children and two labradoodles who, as a family, cheer for the ASU Mountaineers and the ECU Pirates! 

Christy

Christy is a native of southern Nash County, where she attended Southern Nash High School. She then graduated in 2015 from Halifax Community College in Weldon, NC, with an Associate’s degree in Applied Science in Dental Hygiene. Christy joined our team in 2019 and has become an integral part of our hygienists’ team, recognized for her excellence. She looks forward to helping you and your whole family meet your oral health needs! 

Christy’s husband, Matt, was also born and raised in southern Nash County, where they plan to raise their two beautiful daughters, Jordyn and Carter. As a family, they enjoy going to the beach and the mountains.  In her free time, Christy enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and pulling for the Tarheels!

Sam

Sam is originally from Florida, but has lived in North Carolina for the past eight years.

She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene and graduated with honors from University of North Carolina Chapel Hill (go heels!). During her time at UNC-CH, Sam discovered her passion for providing services to those in educational and economic need and became the leader of the American Association of Public Health Dentistry (AAPHD).

Before her career in dental hygiene, Sam was pursuing a degree in education and has a love for kids and educating patients in how to best take care of their oral hygiene. Sam strives to make personal connections with every patient and is always happy to answer questions regarding oral hygiene that may arise from her patients. She’s recognized as one of our Hygienist team’s premier members..

In her spare time, Sam likes to read, workout, and travel.

Alyssa

Alyssa is an NC native and graduated with her degree in dental hygiene from Wayne Community College after attending Appalachian State. She has been in the dental field for 7 years and enjoys making personal connections with all of her patients so that they feel comfortable and at ease during their visits. She’s distinguished in our Hygienist team.

When Alyssa is not working, she enjoys traveling, reading, hiking, and hanging out with her Greyhound, Hazel and Bernedoodle, Moose.

Beth Ann

Beth Ann grew up in Bridgeport, West Virginia, and moved to North Carolina in 2004. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Exercise and Sport Science and a Minor in Spanish.  She returned to UNC in 2012, where she completed her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene. During her time at UNC, Beth Ann was awarded the Carolina First Campaign Scholarship and was selected by UNC faculty for the American Association of Public Health Dentistry Award.  She served as a Student Representative on the Dental Hygiene Admissions Committee and was an ENNEAD Board Member, an organization that provided volunteer opportunities for dental students. She is patient-focused, driven to provide a personable experience along with the highest quality of care possible.   

In her free time, Beth Ann enjoys lifting, running, and cheering on the Tar Heels!  She always looks forward to her annual vacation in Miami, but her favorite destination she has ever been to is Greece. She aspires to travel to Italy one day!

Melissa

Melissa was born and raised in Raleigh, NC, with a strong commitment to dental health and community service. She holds an Associate of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene and an Associate of Arts degree from Wake Technical Community College. She is certified in local anesthesia, enhancing her ability to provide thorough and compassionate care.

Melissa is an active member of the American Dental Hygiene Association (ADHA), staying up-to-date with the latest industry advancements. Beyond her professional work, she is involved in community service through the Ruritan Club, which focuses on community improvement and fellowship, and WERKIN, a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering a connection between people and nature for a healthier future.

In her personal life, Melissa’s fiancé serves in the North Carolina National Guard, reflecting her family’s commitment to service. She enjoys exploring Raleigh and engaging in community activities, balancing her professional responsibilities with her passion for giving back to her community.

Mia

Mia is a North Carolina native who was born and raised in Wilson. She began her professional journey working as a waitress, where she developed strong customer service skills, a solid work ethic, and a genuine ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Those early experiences helped shape her personable and attentive approach in everything she does.

Mia went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree from East Carolina University, further strengthening her academic foundation. Driven by a passion for healthcare and helping others, she later continued her education at Wake Technical Community College, where she pursued Dental Hygiene and refined her clinical skills.

Outside of her professional life, Mia enjoys staying active and making the most of her free time. She loves spending time with her two Labrador retrievers, Dux and Gus, learning new recipes, and reading.
