Heather, RDH (Team Lead)
Heather is a native of Barre, Vermont, and moved to Raleigh in 2006. She attended the University of Vermont, where she received an applied science degree in dental hygiene. Heather is known for her gentle touch and her quiet and comforting voice. She is a true professional, as patients feel very relaxed with her. Heather has also volunteered on the dental bus at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds.
She feels as though working at Wainright and Wassel, D.D.S. is her “home away from home.” Heather has been with us since 2006.
Heather and her husband, Brian, have a son, Mason, and a daughter, McKenna. They also have their lovable family dog, Oakley. Heather loves to bake, and desserts and breakfast pastries are her specialties!
Karyn is a North Carolina native and considers herself a Tar Heel for life! She is a geographically wellrounded North Carolinian -born at the beach, moved to the Triangle and attended college in the mountains. She graduated from Lees-McRae College with a Bachelor’s of Science in biology In 2010 and then attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for a Bachelor’s of Science in dental
hygiene, graduating in 2012. She joined our practice In 2015 and continues to develop a lasting rapport with all of her patients.
Karyn Is an avid runner and hopes to one day complete a half marathon In all 50 states. She has completed a half marathon in 7 different states so far, with a personal record in Tennessee. In her free time, Karyn enjoys photography, reading, spending time with her family and being an active member at her church.
Karyn Is a member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association, the North Carolina Dental Hygienists’ Association where she is the president of the Durham-Orange component, and the North Carolina
Dental Hygiene Academy of Advanced Studies where she is a continuing education co-chair.
Bobbie Jean, RDH
Bobbie Jean is a native of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and moved back to Raleigh from Maryland in 2-13. She attended Wake Technical Community College and Northern Arizona University, where she received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in dental hygiene. She was the 2007 recipient of the Wake Tech Leadership Award. Bobbie Jean has worked in several roles throughout her years in dentistry – as a dental assistant, as a clinical trainer for a CAD/CAM company, and as a consultant for Sunstar Gum/Butler.
She is an avid sports fan and loves the Baltimore Orioles. She loves running and working out.Bobbie Jean is excited to be part of an innovative dental office and looks forward to developing lasting relationships with her patients.
Susan is a native of Virginia, but moved here when she was young, and now calls North Carolina home. She attended Sanderson High School and has been in the dental field since 2000. She started her career as a certified dental assistant and later received an Applied Science degree in dental hygiene from Wake Technical Community College. Susan enjoys patient care; helping each person that sits in her chair feel more confident in their smile. She says it is very rewarding to see a patient learn to take better care of their mouth.
Susan is a member of the American Dental Hygiene Association. She volunteers for charity dentistry events, such as Mission of Mercy, the NC Dental Bus, and Dentistry for the Heart. She received the Community Dental Award in her hygiene class, showing her sincere passion for helping others improve their oral health.
Susan loves to exercise and is involved in her church. She enjoys spending time with her high school sweet heart and husband, Ashbey, and their three children, Noelle, Hampton, and Brooklynn. They have an adorable maltipoo named Tinkerbell. They also love the beach, and taking trips to visit Mickey and Minnie.
Kristin Dillow, RDH, MS and Clinical Sleep Director
Kristin is originally from West Virginia and forever a Mountaineer. She started working at Wainright & Wassel DDS in 2007 shortly after she moved to Raleigh. Kristin received a bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene from West Virginia University in 2006, and a master’s degree in Dental Hygiene Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2014.
Since her time in graduate school, Kristin has pursued training on the management of dental patients with sleep apnea. Her clinical research, “Patient response to sleep apnea screening in a dental practice” was awarded the AADSM Research Excellence Award and was recently published in the Journal of Public Health Dentistry. Under the direction of our dentists, Kristin helps manage the sleep apnea program at Wainright & Wassel DDS, which offers oral appliance therapy as an alternative to CPAP.
Kristin is a member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association and West Virginia University School of Dentistry Alumni Association. She is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at UNC- Chapel Hill School of Dentistry and also educates dental staff on screening and managing patients with sleep apnea through various educational programs across the country.
Kristin and her husband, Nelson, enjoy spending time on their farm with their dog, Milo. They also love traveling and watching West Virginia football.
Kathryn was born and raised in Greenville, NC, home of the ECU Pirates! She attended East Carolina University where she graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Education. She then received her applied science degree in Dental Hygiene at Wayne Community College where she served as president of her Dental Hygiene class.
She is a member of the American Dental Hygiene Association. Kathryn and her Fiance moved to the Raleigh area in 2016. They are excited about planning their upcoming wedding in Ocean Isle Beach, NC. They have two adorable fur babies, a Labradoodle named Finley and a Shih-poo named Addie.
In her spare time, Kathryn loves spending time at the beach with her family and friends. She also enjoys cooking and trying out new recipes she finds on Pinterest.
